Add Multiple Managers Before You Need To

Many businesses rely on a single person to manage their GBP. When that person leaves, you lose the ability to update your hours, reply to reviews, or post — and your reputation suffers. Adding multiple managers ahead of time is a simple safety net.

Add Multiple Managers Before You Need To

How to add owners and managers

  1. Go to your Business Profile.

  2. Select Business Profile settings, then People and access.

  3. At the top left, select Add.

  4. Enter the email address of the person you want to add.

  5. Under "Access", choose Owner or Manager.

  6. Select Invite. They'll get an email.

Best Practices

  • Always have at least two owners so you never lock yourself out if someone leaves.
  • Audit the manager list every quarter — remove former staff and inactive contractors.
  • Use named individual accounts, not shared inboxes. Shared logins make audits impossible.
  • Before promoting someone to primary owner, confirm the existing primary owner can be demoted (they can, after the swap).

While an account can have multiple managers, there can only be one primary owner. This ownership can be transferred to another employee in the event of personnel changes to ensure continuous access and allow for the assignment of new owners and managers.

Don't let the safety net become a security hole — check your manager list regularly to ensure only current, essential staff hold the keys to your digital presence.

You're done when

  • At least two owners have access to the profile.
  • Each person uses a named individual account, not a shared inbox.
  • Former staff and contractors have been removed from the list.
